Since my doe had her babies (4), 3 have gone and there is one little special guy left. she is such a good mom, but worried she is overfeeding it, as its tummy is very rounded! is this good or bad and what can a do to solve it if its bad? your imput would be greatly appreciated!
Actually, overfeeding can occur. Only one or two feedings a day are necessary. You can remove the nestbox during the day and replace it in the evening, then remove it when you go to bed and replace it in the morning for a half hour or so. (The doe should jump right in to feed.) How old is the little one now? A rounded tummy is desireable, but a hugely distended belly is abnormal. Did you notice if the other 3 kits had distended bellies?

My doe gets quite upset if I take her out of the hutch away from the baby - she hovers around the bottom of the hutch and stands up to sniff it - she doesn\'t relax! the baby is a week and 2 days old now. the babies that died were not skinny, but there tummies were not as big as this little guy\'s. I watch her feeding it (mostly at night - don\'t know if she feeds during the day as I am at work) and then she weans it. Not too worried, but a bit curious if its to be so fat! Went on the net to look at some pics of baby bunnies, but they all look a little skinnier than mine. maybe he is just lucky and likes his milk...
