Hi all been awhile since I\'ve been here come April Blaze will be a year old and raised in a cage he is doing great . Now that he\'s older what are the odds of being turned loose and him surving it will be done in a place where there are no dogs or cats in the area but there are still snakes and owls to consider or would it just be best to build an outdoor cage for him to be in ?
At this point, I\'d just keep Blaze a happy \"captive\". While there is a certain amount of instinct in operation, Blaze has been raised in a domestic environment. Chances are high he would sucuumb rather quickly (which, by the way MOST wild rabbits do). Rabbits and other prey animals in the wild just don\'t die of \"old age\".

Ps: Do you have any recent pics of Blaze you can post?
As long as he\'s doing great, as you say, I would just keep him. Charlcie is right. He\'d probably die pretty quickly in the wild. As long as he\'s happy and healthy why change things?
He just acts like he would behappier outside of the cage and as he got older he became unholdable I am the only one that can even pet him
Thanks for the update on Blaze. We have been wondering how he was doing. Even domestic rabbits often become unholdable once their hormones kick in. My rabbits are outside in a six foot high 24\' X 18\" dog kennel for protection. I let them out to run inside of the kennel for about four hours every day. Dog kennels are easy to find used. Their hutch is inside the kennel. My recommendation would be to look at different types of housing.
One site you might find interesting is:
http://network.bestfriends.org/greatbunnyrescue/news/
This is a site about 1000 domestic rabbits that were rescued in just one yard! Many of the rabbits are so feral that they don\'t make good pets. This organization came up with the idea of rabbit habitats to keep rabbits in instead of cages.
If you really don\'t want to keep Blaze anymore, I think it would be best if you found a wildlife rehabilitator. Tell them someone kept him for a pet, but don\'t tell them who. They will give him a vet check up before he runs to freedom.
I agree with everybody else - buy maybe building a cage outside would be best for him - he\'s in the wild, but protected. I think everybody would be happier that way. Just make sure it is well secured against predators.
