These pictures are of our newest kits at 9 days old. The dame is a blue Mini Rex and the sire is a blue/fawn tri(charlie) Mini Rex. The one kit is a broken blue and the other is a blue/fawn tri with very little blue. It only has a tiny amount of blue on the eyes, ears and sides. My kids have never shown a tri. Should the tris have an equal amount of each color or is it ok to be predominantly fawn with only a little blue? Just wondering...
All things being equal...preference will be given to the more evenly balanced (color-wise) rabbit. You can still show the bunny and if it has outstanding type and fur, it can even win, but you do want to breed for an even distribution of the 2 colors with white. (Remembering that you need a minimum of 10% color and not more than 50% color as the Tri is a Broken.)

From our experience what Charlcie says is right on. Preference is usually given to ones who are more evenly distributed in the colors. Tri\'s are fun and challenging at the same time to get everything right on the pattern. All you can do is try and see what a judge says. Either way they are cutie\'s. Tony Artist, Artist Rabbitry
Thanks for the info, both of you. I\'m looking forward to my children showing this one to see what the judge says. I think that I\'m hooked on tris now!
I know nothing of breeding rabbits, but your babies sure are cute!
Thanks PipsMomma. I think they\'re pretty cute, too, but I think I\'m just a little partial.

Your Rex\'s are absolutely Beautiful and the Baby blue/fawn Tri looks a lot like the tri-colored baby Lop I\'m getting on the 23rd.

I think it\'s funny how a Holland Lop and a Mini Rex adult look so different from each other, but as babies they look almost the same. In another post, I saw a picture of baby Jersey Woolies (I think) and even they looked the same. So I wonder, do all baby rabbits look the same regardless of breed?
I guess you\'ll be getting your baby lop just in time for Christmas. What a great present!
Very pretty babies.good luck at the shows.bluebird
Thanks about the shows. I\'ve never shown, only my children have, but I think that I\'m going to in the spring. After thinking about the tri, I\'ve talked my children into selling the tri because it has so much more fawn than blue. With our number of rabbits gradually rising, we can only keep the absolute best. We\'ll try again for a nicer marked tri. On the other hand, I really like the markings on the broken blue and if it still looks equally nice as it gets older, I\'d like to keep it to show at my first show. I\'m sure my children will give me a good price. (like free!)
