Hi there, I have a 7 month old rabbit that seems to be pregnant. About 2 weeks ago, we started looking after a friend
s rabbit as he was going away for 3 weeks. His rabbit is definitely a male and is much bigger than mine. (I actually think mine is half dwarf!) We have left them together in the courtyard the whole time - do you think she is pregnant? Her stomach seems bigger. Another thing - she is missing alot of hair on her skulp and looks like a bald old man - what is this from? I heard it is from the male pulling it out during mating? Should I put her in the hutch that we keep now or wait a few more days? Is this true? Please respond asap.
If the 2 rabbits have been together starting 2 weeks ago, then you can expect babies in as little as 2 more weeks. I would separate them and put her in the hutch so that he\'ll stop pestering her and pulling out her hair. Rabbits are pregnant for about 31 days so the nest box should be put in at about day 28. The nest box should have a layer of pine shavings (several inches thick) and then a layer of hay (several inches thick). Get out a calendar and figure out her due date. Most in likely she got pregnant the first day. Also, it\'s not going to be easy on your doe since the buck is much larger. In fact, it could be very bad. I hope all goes well and I would not mix breeds in the future because it\'s so hard to find homes for the babies afterwards.
For sure get them seperated because she will end up pregnant again if she is left with him after she delivers. And that does no one any good. As was stated earlier that she may have problems delivering if he is alot bigger than her. So keep an eye out and try to figure out her due date as close to the time as you can. Good luck. I am from South Africa and here many people don\'t know about Rabbit Shows. Many people don\'t care what breed they have - I don\'t even know what breed mine is? She is a shiny black with one white paw. Some friends of our do shows so they took a look at her - they said that she has very good ears and is quite small. It was just a pity about her one white paw! I honestly can\'t tell a pure bred rabbit from a mixed breed, so maybe I will learn something from you guys!
