Hey everyone i had a 2 year old rabbit die in my hands last night. it was my first rabbit and was a fmily pet. we have no idea why it died but the only thing it did was fall on its side and couldnt get back up.so does anyone know what that means? also i got 2 new rabbits today and they are babies. they are only 5 weeks old. the man told me that they would be ok. do you think it was to young. because the rabbits i have are constantly licking my skin as if they are hungry for milk. do u think it would hurt for me to bottle feed them some goat milk. please someone help cuz i dont need no more problems. it was hard enough last night
I\'m sorry to hear about the loss of your rabbit. Sadly, it is impossible to tell what caused his death at this point. Sad

About your new bunnies...

5 weeks is awfully young to be selling or giving away bunnies, BUT...I don\'t recommend giving them milk. I often wean bunnies at 5 weeks (just don\'t sell them at that age). What I DO recommend is that you offer the bunnies grass or Timothy hay free choice. Don\'t give any fresh fruits or veggies until the bunnies are 10 - 12 weeks old, and then only what they can clean up in 10 minutes. Feed a good quality pellet and try mixing it with old fashioned oatmeal at the rate of 8 parts pellets to 2 parts oatmeal. Feed this mixture for at least a week. After that, you can feed pellets only and give a pinch of oatmeal on top of the pellets each day as a treat. (Continue the hay, offering it at least 2 to 3 times/week.)

Good luck. Smile

WHAT HAPPENS IF THE BUNNIE HAS EATEN LIKE A COUPLE OF BITES OF APPLE TODAY IS THAT BAD FOR HER
DO I COOK THE OATMEAL OR DO I JUST GIVE IT TO THEM UNCOOKED. I NEED TO KNOW SOON BECAUSE IM NOT SURE WHEN THE LAST TIME THEY EAT
Don\'t worry about the apple, just don\'t feed anymore for awhile.

The oatmeal should be uncooked.

ok well i tried it and they will not do a thing with it but look at it ahh im worid about the black and white one ahh, my tan one will eat pellets
Don\'t worry about it. Just offer the pellets and hay. They\'ll be OK.

Cody, I am so sorry to hear what happened to your 2 year old. It is very sad when things happen to our pets and we have no control over it. I get very upset over things like that, too, so I can very well understand your sadness and I am sorry.
BUT ... I am very glad to hear (even thought they are young) that you did get new ones. Although new ones ease the heartache ~ they can never erase the memories. Good luck with them -just feed them as Charlcie suggested. You\'ll be fine with them.
I\'m sorry about your two year old. I recently lost my Stella. Like yours, she died in my arms. I take comfort knowing that up to the end, she wasn\'t alone and that she knew she was loved. The same as yours.

Your new babies are adorable!!! What are their sexes? Have you given them names yet?

As for feeding them, Charlcie seems to be the voice of reason and the one to go to for future advice.

My bunny gets lots of fresh hay and water around the clock, along with pellets and fresh greens daily. As far as the greens go, bear in mind that my rabbit is older than yours.

Keep posting photos of yours, they are too cute!
